Road trip 2021 Chennai Edition!

by Kosha Admin 21 Sep 2024

A brilliant amalgam of history, culture, and modernity, Chennai is one of the fastest-growing metropolitan cities in India. Often represented as the face of South India, this city has a lot to offer for the wanderers and explorers. Here are our favourite picks!

For the mountain lovers!
Abode to the Nilgiri range and the Western Ghats, Tamil Nadu is blessed with picturesque hill stations and tea gardens. For anyone who wants to take a break, mountains are the best options for road trips. Even though the warm Chennai climate does not offer much for the hilly billies, if you take a slightly longer road trip you can definitely have fun. Here are our favourite road trip destinations from Chennai.

Option 1: Ooty
This mystical hill station in the Nilgiri district of Tamil Nadu provides an unforgettable experience thanks to the cold mountains and lush hills, the vibrant gardens, the misty lakes and dams, and the proud museums and architecture.

Recommended Travel Wear:
The weather is generally cold and would suggest you bring your best thermal wear to keep you warm and dry.

For the beach bums!
The thing about Chennai is that it is a coastal city and still people cannot get enough of the sea and sand. Here are our suggestions for a beachy road trip!

Option 1: Pondicherry
This proud historical and culturally rich town that sits costly on the shores of the Bay of Bengal is one of the most sought-after travel destinations. Once conquered and ruled extensively by the Dutch, Portuguese, and the French, this place is a vibrant explosion to the senses with its ever-present seaside breeze, colourful French quarters, scuba diving centres, opportunities for heritage walk and experience the Aurobindo Ashram!

The destinations involve a lot of exploring more than getting the sunshine, so be prepared on your best on-the-go commuter collection.

For the seekers of ancient and monumental!
What do you do when it gets too much? Ever felt like taking a break and riding to someplace that is so huge that you forget yourselves? If so, this is for you!

Option 1: Kanyakumari
A place where you can experience the brilliant sunset, sunrise, and moonrise - how amazing is that? If that's not enough, this southernmost tip of India is also the place wherein the Indian ocean, Arabia Sea, and Bay of Bengal confluence. Still, need any more reasons for that road trip?!
