Waterfall rappelling
The activity of waterfall rappelling is so closely associated with the monsoon season that many tour groups organise special package during the season. Especially in the rainy days, the monsoon fed waterfall start rumbling through great heights and thus provide a perfect setting for rappelling.
Waterfall rappelling is basically a descent through the waterfall with the help of a fastened rope. So, you will go sliding down the rope over a waterfall with an acute sense of amusement mixed with a little fright.
The Western Ghats is where there are opportunities to get into rappelling activity. And in Maharashtra, you may get it at a popular destination known as the Vihigaon Falls. At about 124 km from Mumbai, in the small village of Vihigaon, you’ll find a magnificent waterfall of breath-taking proportions. A popular destination among the enthusiasts, the adrenaline rush felt when sliding down the rope through the waterfall is many times described as ‘once in a lifetime’ experience.
There are quite a lot of places in Maharashtra, where you can go for rappelling. Some of them include, Tighar, Kondava, Malshej, Ullhas valley, Bhivpuri waterfalls and Khundewadi falls.
Always come prepared
When taking part in an adventurous event, make sure you have all the essentials with you. Wearing a close neck t-shirt definitely helps and always wear a helmet carrying out a dangerous stunt. Keep your valuable safe in a protective plastic bag and make sure to shield yourself in a lightweight windcheater to keep yourself dry.
