We have received a variety of inquiries from our customers, who love the quality and performance of Kosha’s winter clothes. Yet, they don’t need it all year round, or they just need it for a shorter period (for their dreamy winter getaways!).

In a situation like this, buying expensive winter gear feels unnecessary and often goes beyond one’s budget. Worry not, renting solves this problem.

Kosha’s initiative to offer its high-quality winter gear for rent across India gives you the best of both worlds, that is, it gives you the finest protection against bone-chilling cold and a sustainable alternative to purchasing.

At Kosha, we have initiated this project after several discussions regarding the persistent issue our customers face. Our rental initiative is built on the core message that reflects our brand values and customer-first mindset:

To give a new meaning to our belief system, we have started our rental initiative, which further reduces the carbon footprint of single-use shopping. By renting, you make a choice that’s both environmentally and wallet-friendly.

What’s available for rent?

For rental garments, we are currently starting with the core winter garments that would act as a staple in each of your winter trips:

Kosha’s Winter Jackets:

Kosha’s jackets truly act as a knight in shining armour in your next alpine journey. While buying a jacket for a single trip might not be the smartest choice, renting one is. At Kosha, there are men’s winter jackets, as well as women’s trekking jackets,  and Men's parka-style Jacket on Rent,  available for rent!

Apart from that, choose from options, such as

Waterproof jackets: Waterproof jackets are a safer option as well, since these offer ultimate protection from snow or rain, making them a must-have in your winter journey, if the weather is a bit unpredictable.

Insulated jackets: Insulated Jackets might be your go-to choice if you are travelling in high-altitude snowy regions.

Kosha’s Snow Pants:

You might don a fluffy outer layer, but what about keeping your lower half warm and dry? 

Do you hear the answer to that? It’s Snow Pants! 

Snow pants are the perfect choice for snow hikes, treks, skiing, or just frolicking in the snow.

Since both the outer and the lower shell are worn over base layers, we highly recommend investing in a good pair of thermals, making them ideal to wear. And worry not, each piece is carefully dry cleaned before and after every use, for hygienic purposes. (Rental fees include the cleaning cost.)

Thermals and Accessories: 

Some items, such as the base layers and accessories, are better purchased than rented for hygiene purposes. Here’s why:

Thermal Layers:

Since these layers are worn the closest to the skin, it’s better to invest in your pair of thermals, for hygiene and for a better fit as well.

Accessories:

We do not rent accessories, and here’s why:

• Most of our accessories are made up of Merino wool, a delicate fibre that doesn’t necessarily hold up to multiple rentals. 
• Due to the fabric, the accessories experience higher wear and tear.
• Being close to the skin, it’s better to invest in your own for hygienic purposes.
• Accessories often vary with different aesthetics, as they let you style your outfit in whatever way you like.

FAQs

1. What items are available for rent at Kosha?

You can rent the finest winter jacket and snow pants at Kosha for cold-weather travel. There are waterproof and insulated options for both men and women. Thermals and accessories such as gloves, socks, and caps, on the other hand, are not available to rent due to hygienic reasons and fabric sensitivity. They are best bought for personal use.

2. How does the rental process work if I’m not in Mumbai?

You can easily rent winter wear from Kosha online through our website. Once you've made your item selection, your pieces will be delivered to your door within 3–5 days. Shipping days don’t count in your rental period; you only pay for the days you use the gear. Returns are also flexibly managed to ensure problem-free experiences.

3. Is there a security deposit, and how is it handled?

Yes, the Kosha requires security deposits equal in amount to the jacket's original cost. This deposit can be made through GPay, UPI, or cash (credit/debit card payments are not accepted). The deposit is refunded in cash, minus the rental fee, if the jacket is returned on time and in good condition. Dedications may occur if the garment bears damage.

4. What happens if the rented jacket gets damaged?

Kosha observes a clear damage policy. A little aging of a unit will not affect the deposit. If any major damage is found, a reasonable charge amount based on repairs will be deducted from the deposit. In any such event, where the extent of damages io much that the item is no longer capable of being used, the entire deposit shall stand forfeited. You will be notified regarding any deductions within 48 hours of the date of return, with photos and a breakdown of costs.

5. Do I need to clean the jacket before returning it?

Don’t trouble yourself by washing or cleaning the rented jacket yourself. Kosha takes care of dry cleaning after every use. Just make sure the jacket is returned in a condition reflecting reasonable use—cleaning is included in your rental fee.
